Anatomy of a Streak

I've been playing ESPN's Streak for the Cash for a long time. And in all of my years, I've managed to pick correctly only about 55% of the time, and I've never put together a streak longer than 12 wins. I did, however, manage to pick incorrectly eleven times in a row which is almost more impressive. And sad.

Anyhow, I'm in the mist of a 10-game winning streak right now (only 14 off the leaders!!), so I figured I'd break it down while it's still active. My guess is I'll get burned tonight for picking my Rockets on the road against Utah, but such is the nature of the game.

Here's how we got here:

W1 - NHL - Pittsburgh Penguins vs Buffalo Sabres straight up. Pittsburgh wins 5-1. (99.7% Picked)

W2 - UFC 218 - Henry Cejudo vs Sergio Pettis straight up. Cejudo wins. (96.4% Picked)

W3 - UFC 218 - Francis Ngannou vs Alistair Overeeem straight up. Ngannou wins. (86.7% Picked)

W4 - NFL - New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills straight up. New England wins 23-3. (99.5% Picked)

W5 - NFL - Los Angeles Charges vs Cleveland Browns straight up. L.A. wins 19-10. (99.5% Picked)

W6 - NBA - Houston Rockets vs Los Angeles Lakers straight up. Houston wins 118-95. (99.4% Picked)

W7 - NCAA Basketball - Indiana vs Iowa straight up. Indiana wins 77-64. (97.4% Picked)

W8 - NCAA Basketball - Butler vs Utah straight up. Butler wins 81-69. (98.5% Picked)

W9 - NBA - Golden States Warriors vs Charlotte Hornets straight up. Golden State wins 101-87. (99.1% Picked)

W10 - NBA - Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Clippers straight up. Minnesota wins 113-107. (96.4% Picked)

So certainly not a lot of big risks on my part. Only once have I picked someone that wasn't picked by 96% of the field. But hey, ten wins is ten wins. I'll let everyone know if I can make it to the elusive 13. Fingers crossed!
