The 2017 NFL Draft saw ten quarterbacks get drafted over seven rounds, including three in the first twelve picks. Now three quarters of the way through the 2017 regular season, let's take a look and see how they're all doing:
Mitch Trubisky - Chicago Bears - North Carolina, 1st Round, 2nd Pick Overall
*Trubisky took over the starting job in Chicago after Mike Glennon started the season 1-3. Trubisky has gone 2-6 in his eight starts, but completed fewer than ten passes in both wins. He's eclipsed 200 yards just once (297 yards in a loss to Green Bay on November 12th) and failed to break 150 yards five times with yardage numbers of 128, 113, 107, 147 and 102. He's amassed 1,237 yards on the year while completing 106/193 passes, and thrown just four interceptions, but also only five touchdowns.
Patrick Mahomes II - Kansas City Chiefs - Texas Tech, 1st Round, 10th Pick Overall
*With the Chiefs losers of four in a row and six of their last seven, there have been voices calling for first rounder Mahomes to make his first appearance for the Chiefs, but those calls have as of yet gone unanswered. Mahomes appeared in all four of Kansas City's preseason games throwing four touchdowns, no interceptions, and completing 34 of 54 passes.
Deshaun Watson - Houston Texans - Clemson, 1st Round, 12th Pick Overall
*DeShaun Watson wasn't the Week 1 starter for the Texans, but he managed to eclipse Tom Savage before the week was over and started for Houston the next six weeks. Unfortunately his run came to an end when he tore his ACL at practice on the heels of a 402 yard, 4 touchdown effort against the Seahawks, ending his season. All told, Watson was 126/204 for 1,699 yards throwing 19 touchdowns against just 8 interceptions while adding 269 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Watson had a five-touchdown game against the Chiefs, four-touchdown games against Seattle and Tennessee, and a three-touchdown game against the Browns.
DeShone Kizer - Cleveland Browns - Notre Dame, 2nd Round, 52nd Pick Overall
*It's been a rough campaign for Kizer and the winless Browns who have to find a way to win at home against Green Bay or Baltimore, or on the road at Chicago or Pittsburgh to avoid an 0-16 season. This comes on the heels of a 1-15 season last year where they started the season 0-14 before finally pulling off a 20-17 upset of San Diego. Kizer has been front and center for a substantial portion of this year's failures appearing in 11 games. He's 181/345 for 2,038 yards but has just six touchdowns to go along with 15 interceptions. On a positive note, he does have five rushing touchdowns and 308 rushing yards.
Davis Webb - New York Giants - Cal, 3rd Round, 87th Pick Overall
In the midst of New York's 2-10 season that has seen Eli Manning benched and head coach Ben McAdoo get fired, Davis Webb has yet to make his first regular season appearance. In three preseason appearances with the Giants, Webb completed 18/34 passes for 190 yards.
C.J. Beathard - San Francisco 49ers - Iowa, 3rd Round, 104th Pick Overall
*Beathard has thrown a pass in six games for the 49ers this year, eclipsing 200 yards in five of those games. All told he's completed 123/224 passes for 1,430 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions. He's also run for three touchdowns and accumulated 136 yards on the ground. With former Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo now in the fold and having just led the 49ers to a 15-14 win over the Bears in his first start, it will be interesting to see where Beathard will fall on the depth chart moving forward.
Joshua Dobbs - Pittsburgh Steelers - Tennessee, 4th Round, 135th Pick Overall
*Pittsburgh's third string quarterback has yet to appear in a regular season game being stuck behind Big Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones, but he did feature heavily during Pittsburgh's preseason. In four games, Dobbs completed 38/64 passes for 406 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran the ball seven times for 34 yards and a touchdown. In the preseason finale against Carolina, his rushing touchdown with two seconds remaining in the game elevated Pittsburgh to a 17-14 win.
Nathan Peterman - Buffalo Bills - Pittsburgh, 5th Round, 171st Pick Overall
*Peterman (in)famously threw five interceptions in just 14 passes in his first NFL Start during Week 11. Despite immediately losing his starting job back to Tyrod Taylor, an injury saw him return to the field in Week 12. In three appearances this season, Peterman is 19/39 passing for 195 yards. He's thrown one touchdown against those five interceptions. He's also rushed for 13 yards.
Brad Kaaya - Detroit Lions - Miami (FL), 6th Round, 215th Pick Overall
*After spending the preseason with the Lions, Kaaya was waived by Detroit and subsequently picked up by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers kept him around until Week 6 before they waived him as well. The Lions then picked him up again and currently have him assigned to their practice squad. Kaaya did appear in all four of Detroit's preseason games completing 24/40 passes for 293 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
Chad Kelly - Denver Broncos - Ole Miss, 7th Round, 253rd Pick Overall
*Buffalo Bill Legend Jim Kelly's nephew had surgery on his wrist during the offseason and has spent his rookie campaign on the injured reserve.
